The February Volunteer Spotlight at Wolfe County Health and Rehabilitation Center is on Earl Patton. Earl has been a volunteer at the facility since 1992 and started singing in a group called Pure Gospel. He is the only one left of the original group, but with his leadership, that group is still going strong today. Earl is with two other groups, the Gospel Lights and the Eastern Gate Singers – making his total number of visits to the facility each month – seven times.
He hosts prayer with the residents and offers them words of encouragement and assists them to and from activities if needed. If residents are unable to attend the group singing, Earl will visit with them in their rooms, praying with them and singing songs of their request. Earl also sings during the Good Friday Service and Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Veterans’ Day Reception.
Earl takes pride in being a volunteer and takes it to heart, even working on items for the residents from home.
When residents were asked what they thought about Earl, the words faithful, loving, and kind were used to describe his service to both the residents and facility. Special thank you to Earl for all you do.
