Wolfe County HRC residents observed National Quilting Day on Saturday by banding together to make their own quilts. Lots of the residents wanted to make their quilts very colorful to celebrate Spring.
National Quilting Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday in March. On this day, people from around the country create quilts, teach special classes and have museum exhibits to honor and recognize quilt makers and the art form.
To be considered a quilt, there must be a layer of batting/stuffing between two pieces of fabric. Most early American quilts were the result of worn out blankets and clothing.
